Students, Do You have a Solid Plan for your End Sem Exam?

The Fears, Uncertainty, and Doubts frequently plaguing a student’s mind

Step A

A. What do I want to achieve?

The combination of a student’s Available-Time and Motivation could be summarized into one of these three goals or desires:

  1. Clear the Exam – somehow – and with the least effort.
  2. Achieve high first-division or a Distinction, with sufficient concept clarity, and problem-solving ability.
  3. Advanced readiness for future competitive and placement challenges

Mostly students focus just on putting-out the exam fire, but fail to see the bigger picture of looming career exams, core selection competition, and need for conceptual clarity

B. How do I get there?

A quest well begun is already half-done! Steps below usually set the direction to the goal:

  1. Analyse the Syllabus for depth and complexity, understand marking scheme, weightage, time and effort involved, and then sequence topics in the logical order for study.
  2. Locate books, notes, videos, questions, past-year papers, and the expected solved questions for the chosen topics. Continuously strive for completeness, clarity, and level-matching of material.
  3. Ensure ready and sufficient access to material above, and to be able to use them in any manner as and when needed.

The biggest unsaid challenge in this quest is the time, effort, cost, inconvenience, and the uncertainty involved in searching, accessing, appropriating the appropriate material, and most of all ensuring the authenticity and the fit-to-purpose. Aspirants mostly fail this quest

Step B
C

C. How do I plan my time?

Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail! A good study plan is the vital – but often-overlooked Starting step! Planning should be in-line with your goals and resources.
This planning usually involves,

  1. Dividing available time into Preparatory, and Revision phases, with calendared tasks and milestones.
  2. Exclusively dedicate time, effort, and resources to tasks, and systematically tabulate daily progress, including hits, misses, and carry-overs.
  3. Consider all options before commencing: Is this the best way? Is there a better way? Can I do this alone? Am I better off with a study-group, or a Guide? Retracing steps can be painful at a late stage!

Frequently, finding level-appropriate material is a challenge. Wasting time on random YT or GATE-prep packages derails semester prep efforts

D. Fighting the Time-Effort Battle?

Often, students seek feedback,

  1. How am I doing?: Regularly solving sufficient past year questions of completed topics, within a rated time. and in competition with classmates helps.
  2. Where am I now?: Checking (and if required, re-caliberating) completion milestones and overall progress.
  3. Who can Help?: A method or expert for reliable doubts solving, and anchoring.

Managing On-Date, On-Time completion, repeatedly, is a forebearer of lifelong professional  success!

Upon registration in an Access Level a user is allocated certain VPT hours. The count of Allocated, Consumed and Available VPT hours can be viewed in the 2L App or Browser reports.

Videos can be accessed with a valid VPT balance or till the course is active. Users can Top-up their VPT at any time from the Enrolment Options panel above.

How can I add more VPT Hours?

Plans can be Topped up any time using the Top Up access option. Top Up will add 10 hours of VPT to your existing plan.

What are Smart Reminders?

A Smart Reminder is setup for each topic of Advanced and Professional Level upon user attempting the first module (ALM) of that topic, and is rested when the last module of that topic, typically the PSQ is completed. Up to 3 completion reminders are sent for each topic unless completed earlier.

What is the advantage of VPT over the usual Number of Days (NoD) plans?

The usually offered ‘Number of Days’ (NoD) access plans are dysfunctional for students preparing for Semester-exams for several reasons.

  • NoD plans are consumed by elapse of time even when there is no consumption by the user.
  • They appear cheap for smaller number of days but become costly for more days.
  • More often than not these plans lapse towards the end of the Semester – when students need them the most.
  • Mostly these plans are device-locked and pin-down the student to a single machine – typically a mobile.
  • Students cannot share a plan amongst themselves to bring down the total cost.

These and several other issues are addressed in the VPT access plan.

  • VPT plans are available for 2 semesters.
  • The login can be used via 2Learn app on any device, and VPT plans can be shared simultaneously on multiple devices.
  • 30% extra VPT hours are provided, which should be sufficient to comfortably complete the course and revise.
  • Plans can be topped up at any time.

Can I get a refund or carry-over on unused VPT?

Unused VPT hours are neither refundable, or carried-over to further enrolments.

How do I enroll in 2 paper codes of the same subject?

A user cannot simultaneously enroll in 2 (or more) paper codes in the same subject, If a user enrolled in code1 attempts to enrol in code2 in the same subject, the system will automatically unenroll them from the first code. In this case their VPT balance will be preserved in the 2nd code.

If the student must enrol into 2 separate codes, they have to create a separate user – having a separate email id and user name, and then enrol in the 2nd code. The VPT allocations are separate for each enrolment.
