Guided Study Platform

Guided Study Platform (GSP) enables 2Learn Guides to enroll and teach 2Learn courses to students using our 2-teacher methodology. The system will prepare students to secure a Distinction grade or a high-first division in the upcoming semester subject to proper study and completion of the courses.

The platform combines our interactive-video teaching-learning platform with in-person assessment and guidance conducted by 2Learn Guides, to ensure high-quality success for 2Learners.

Guided Study Platform is a good opportunity to generate a handsome revenue – at a low investment of time and effort, and at the same time enrich their subject knowledge; enhance work-experience; demonstrate entrepreneurial and teaching abilities; cultivate leadership and communication capability; and resume-building for future opportunities. On the other side, it is wonderful opportunity for 2Learners to get in-person guidance, doubt clearing, and assured timely course completion, at a fraction of the cost they would have incurred for similar outcomes in a traditional tuition setting.

2Learn Guides could be a) Final or pre-Final year students, b) GATE-qualified Subject Matter Experts, or c) serving or past Teachers; belonging to B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA/MSc streams who can conduct in-person, face-to-face, Guidance Sessions for B.Tech, Diploma, or Applied Sciences students, in their neighborhood. They must exhibit adequate confidence in their subjects to handle student queries effectively, an ability to guide, motivate, and communicate clearly, and the ability to independently execute this program based on 2Learn platform, norms and guidelines.

The course description, composition, syllabus etc is available under Self Study Programs. Guided Study is offered with Advanced Enrolment Option and Professional Enrolment Option at the time of course registration on the ‘Self Study Programs’ course pages. Professional level covers GATE foundation in addition to Semester exam content. Only GATE qualified Guides should offer GATE foundation batches under GSP.

Guided Study Platform is a wonderful opportunity not only for professional teachers but also for students to Earn While You Learn. Teaching is learning twice, so in essence you are improving your subject competency as well as placement-worthiness, and entrepreneurial skills. GSP is a win-win in all involved in more ways than one.

GSP Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Season, How many Seasons can I run each semester?

Two Seasons are typically scheduled per semester.
Preparatory Season commences close to the start of the semester and runs for approximately 8 weeks with 1 weekly guidance session
Revisionary Season usually starts a month before the final semester exams, runs for 4 weeks with 2 guidance sessions per week. While the coverage and syllabus is similar in both seasons, evidently students have more time in Prep Season compared to a faster-paced Rev Season.  Typically, students need guidance in their core subjects, whihc could number between 1 to 4 per semester. Students may choose to distribute their subjects across the two Seasons for convenience, focus, and for best results.

How do I apply to be a 2Learn Guide?

  • A 2Learn Guide would be a) Final or Pre-Final student of B.Tech, b} student of M.Tech/MCA/MSc, c) a GATE aspirant or GATE qualified individual, or d) a present or past faculty.
You should have a good command and confidence over the subject matter, love teaching and helping students, and you are looking out to create a revenue source by investing a few hours per week.
  • A Guide engagement is for 2 semesters initially. It is currently offered at low or no cost to selected guides.
  • Aspirants have to apply and submit information requested in the Expression of Interest form on the GSP page on 2Learn website. • Meantime you can start appraoching students for enrolment, and start planning your sessions accordingly.

How is GSP different from Traditional Tuitions?

College teaching remains dysfunctional and ineffective for a variety of reasons. For effective exam prep students look at other means – guides, notes, YouTube videos and in-person tuitions.

In traditional tuitions as we know them, the teacher start teaching subject matter from the scratch and till the end. This is great, provided there is sufficient time. unfortunately Professional course students just don’t have the time or energy to travel and sit on hard benches again after a long day at college. Apart from travel and preparation, too much time is invested for these classes, with little apparent output.
Students feel much better off with self-study at their own pace. They seek subject-specific, syllabus-customisedm, complete, authentic, high-quality audio-video content, which should have been taught by excellent teachers, with integrated assessments and solutions for self-checking, and laid out in a nice understandable way. Unfortunately, in most cases the search turns out to be elusive. YouTube is like water-water everywhere, not a drop to drink. finding level-appropriate, complete and authentic material is difficult. more on that later. NPTEL is good for certification, and maybe research but not for semester exams, and then these are old videos with grainy quality.

And then there is the big question of everyday discipline and dedication of time to task, doubt clearing, and problem solving practice. Some students can manage on their own, but most students need hand holding on what to study, how to study, and how much time each topic and the overall course will take; and how do they ensure the daily descipline to put it all together in time for exams.

A typical core course requires 30+ teaching hours for cover concepts, not including PYO solving. Based on their experience, tuition faculties charge 600 to a 1000 per hour for one-on-one sessions – which for most students is prohibitive. Group sessions are difficult to locate.

GSP blends the advantages of high quality professional teacher, syllabus-customised and exam-oriented content, systematic approach, with the magic of In-person assistance to create a unique and beneficial blend for students at a fraction of cost of traditional tuitions.

How can somebody implement a program like GSP with YouTube or NPTEL etc?

A key difference between YT, NPEL etc., and the 2Learn system is the Active Learning pedagogy fostered through Confirmation of Learning. 2Learn has embedded several Just-in-time formative, as well as summative assessments for self-confirmation of learning. These are followed by Guide-led in-person assessment using rapid fire Active Quiz during Guidance Sessions.

Overall, the system of high-quality teaching content with video-embedded KCQs, followed by higher order SQQ, followed by ORM and outcome-linked notes, followed by PSM and then PPQ for each Topic, and then supported by KBL and StuQ, feedback, Course Forum and other gamifications is quite unique to 2Learn.

Last but not the least is the system of role and capability assignment to Guides who can leverage the Platform features to engage with their own separate group of students, and create value for students and themselves

Please summarize GSP's Instructional system for students

As a student, when You enroll in a Guidance Group, your Guide will share an overall session plan for course coverage of your paper code syllabus, including per session syllabus portion allocation.

The Guide will tell you portions to study, what not to study, when to study, how to study, and how to score a high-first-class or a distinction grade in your semester exams. Not only that when you study 2Learn’s video courses and self-assess yourself, they will be able to view in real time what portions you have covered, how much you have done, what problems you faced, and what can be your strong or weak points, in the sessions, they will clarify your doubts and remove your misconceptions, and solve and help you solve tricky numerical from past year questions of your syllabus. These small group, in-person guidance and review sessions will be held in your neighborhood only, and focus on your semester exams, optionally with integrated competition and GATE prep.

The Guides will also share daily coverage milestones you are expected to cover in your self-study. Based on the course, number of enrolments, and overall comfort, Guide may choose, either Sequential Study Plan, or Spaced-Recall Study Plan for topic content. This study sequence and daily milestones will be shared with you orally or using 2Learn’s event calendar.

Which is better - Sequential or Spaced-Recall study plan?

Sequential Study Plan,

  1. All modules in each topics are studied sequentially and completed on the same day. For instance the ALM-SQ-ORM-PSM-PSQ sequence is followed on the same day.
  2. Topics are scheduled daily and early in the week, rather than later.

Spaced-Recall Study Plan,

  1. For each topic, ALM, SQ and ORM are studied on Day 1, and PSM and PSQ/TPQ are studied on D+2.
  2. Multiple Topics can be started on any one day.
  3. Topics are front-loaded to ensure timely coompletion.
  4. The SR plan is designed for better, and repeated recall as opposed to Sequential Study.

The Choice is plan will rest with the Guide.

Guide will set up the daily calendared goals for students, and monitor progression in real time.

Revenue Outlook – for Guides

  • Even as a third year student, subject matter expertise is the first professional skill you have acquired. If you wish to build on and profit from that, differentiate your career, and enrich your profile and experience, and also serve your Discipline or college, benefit your juniors and build lifelong connections with them, build respect and standing in your community, you can become a 2Learn Guide.
  • If you are a MTech, GATE scholar, or currently a teacher, you can create value for yourself and others by becoming a 2Learn Guide.
  • So, whatever be your current station in life, if you are good with students and your subjects, you can create a world of a difference in your earning potential in your area. At scale, on a per work-hour basis, it can be several multiples of what an entry level engineer gets.

As a Guide, what investment of Time should I anticipate, and what can be my returns on them?

  • There is 30-40% subject back in most core subjects in Affilating University colleges in B.Tech. For a class of 60 students that translates to at least 18 students. With due diligent approach, a Guide should be able to approach at least 10 students successfully, and as many for fresh attempts.
  • As a Guide, you can offer 2 seasons per sem.  Ech season requires 8 sessions. Usually a 1-hour session should be sufficient for 1 to 5 students, and a somewhat longer session with increased enrolments.
  • A CS Guide can potentially teach 3-4 subjects of BTech, Diploma, and Applied Sciences for each targeted year. So a FY BT student can potentially teach 9 subjects of 1st year (across BTech, Diploma and  Applied Sc (BCA, BSc) and 9 subjects of 2nd year, with an investment of 18-22 hours per week. With 7 enrols avg per Group, this guide can have 126 students all by own effort, and more if targetting several colleges. The number of enrols is depend on willingness, availability and proximity of students, and off course Guide’s time, motivation, talent, and effort. Other investments may include time towards performance analysis, messaging, sundry query handling, marketing etc. Guides can expect a revenue of 2-4k per enroll, subject to a number of factors.
  • Based on the above, you can do the simple math to arrive at the revenue potential
